Department of Education Resources

The Department of Education offers many resources that are helpful to both children and adults. Visit the Educational Resources page through the Department of Education for information ranging from Pre-K to 12th grades, with helpful hints on learning to read, after school programs, bilingual resources, and much more.

Also, look at the Higher Education section for information from planning and paying for college to international educational experiences.

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

LUGAR SYMPOSIUM FOR TOMORROW'S LEADERS

Principals from every high school in Indiana are asked to select two junior students to attend the Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders at the University of Indianapolis every December. This year, over 500 students participated. Visit the Lugar Symposium page for more information.

FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

I am pleased to partner with the Congressional Research Service to offer guidance and internet resources on federal grants and nonfinancial assistance, as well as on private foundation funding. Visit the Financial Aid for Students page for the most up-to-date information.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM INFORMATION

Each semester and during the summer, my office selects energetic and motived young college students to serve as interns. If you would like to find out more about an internship, visit the intern information page.

THE CONGRESSIONAL AWARD

The Congressional Award is about challenge and provides a fun way to become more involved in something you already enjoy or try something new. To earn the award, you set goals in each of the four program areas, select an advisor, and then you are on your way. For more information, visit the Congressional Award page.

PAGE PROGRAM INFORMATION

High School juniors who wish to come to Washington, DC might be interested in serving as a Senate Page. For more information, visit the page program information page.

SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINATION INFORMATION

Each year, my office accepts applications from young men and women who wish to study at one of our nation's service academies. If you would like to find out more about service academies, visit the academy information page.

DICK LUGAR/INDIANA FARM BUREAU ESSAY CONTEST

In 1985, as Ranking Minority Member of the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee, I joined with Indiana Farm Bureau to sponsor a youth essay contest for 8th grade students which would focus attention on the importance of Indiana agriculture. The deadline for the essay contest has passed. A final winner will be announced in December. For more information, please visit Indiana Farm Bureau's Essay information page.
