BUNNING ANNOUNCES FEDERAL FUNDING OF $2.2 MILLION FOR EMERGENCY CONSERVATION PROGRAM

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Bunning today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released $2.2 million in Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) funding for the ice storm and flooding that occurred in Kentucky last year.

“This is good news for the Commonwealth’s farmers,” said Bunning. “Our farmers took heavy losses from last year’s natural disasters, and these extra funds will provide much needed assistance to Kentucky’s farmers.”

ECP funds will provide technical assistance to help producers remove debris from farmland, restore fences and conservation structures, provide water for livestock in drought situations and grade and shape farmland damaged by natural disasters. The USDA was able to make these funds available from unused allocations from other states.
