Visiting Washington, D.C.
Our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., is rich with the treasures of America's heritage. To help you make your trip to Washington both memorable and enjoyable, my staff and I have compiled information on public tours for many of the sights you may want to explore. Many of the monuments, museums and historical sites offer free public tours throughout the year. Upon request, I can mail you the booklet, "Welcome to Washington," which offers detailed information on the various attractions surrounding the Washington area. Congressional tickets to various attractions are extremely limited. 2006 Summer Events in Washington, D.C. Due to the limited number of tickets
made available to each Congressional office and the popularity of these
sites, we ask that you make your requests several months in advance. In
many cases the attractions are unable to fulfill requests, even when they
are made with considerable lead time. This is especially true during the
peak tourist season of March through September.
