Issues & Legislation - Issue - Energy
We need a three-pronged energy strategy that aims to 1) reduce our reliance on foreign sources of energy, 2) increase conservation and 3) increase the use of clean, modern and reliable sources of energy. And as we move forward with efforts to pass a comprehensive energy bill, I’ll be fighting to ensure that no steps are taken toward drilling off of North Carolina’s coast. Offshore drilling not only would be harmful to our environment, it would be detrimental to an industry that is extremely important to North Carolina’s coastal economy – tourism.
