Issues & Legislation
  Issue - National Defense

As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I am committed to building a strong and modern military. When our young men and women are called into harm’s way, they must have the best equipment, the best training and the highest morale. We must give our armed forces, intelligence agencies and law enforcement the resources that they need to keep America safe, including higher pay and better benefits. We must also create a missile defense system that will protect our country, our troops deployed abroad and our allies from threats of missile attacks. Rogue nations and terrorist regimes – who already have access to ballistic missile technologies – continue to develop, or seek access to, nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. We need a national defense strategy that reflects the challenges we face today. Protecting the U.S. homeland is an urgent priority and I will fight for a strong national defense.
