Education
has and will continue to be one of my top legislative priorities.
As Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions
Committee, I have the opportunity to be actively involved in shaping
our nation’s education policy.
We all recognize that education is the
first and most important element of success in our society. It is
not only important for the individual, but it is important for our
nation, which clearly thrives and prospers on the basis of a well-educated
populace. I am committed to improving the educational system in
our country through greater accountability and expanded educational
opportunities for all students, particularly those most in need.
Our children deserve the best possible
education, and I am pleased to support the No Child Left Behind
Act and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. I will
continue to work with my colleagues in Congress and the Bush Administration
to ensure that all children receive a quality education so they
can grow up and lead productive and successful lives.
