Washington, DC Tours and Information

January 2005

Dear Friends,

Thank you for contacting me regarding your upcoming trip to the
Washington, D.C. area. I am sure that you will find your visit to be both entertaining and educational.

Most of the wonderful sites in Washington, D.C. have reopened in the past few months. With the exception of the White House and
FBI, all tours are now open to the public. My office is pleased to contact a variety of tour sites in the Washington area, in order to try and book tours for you.The popular sites that people request are: the Capitol Building, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Library of Congress, the National Cathedral, and the Kennedy Center. Many of these sites fill up their reservations three months (or more) in advance. I would urge you to contact my office to request tours as soon as you have decided on the dates you will be in Washington, D.C. Please be aware that you do not need reservations to see what this wonderful city has to offer. All tours, with the exception of the White House and FBI, are free and open to the public without the reservations made by my office.

In addition, I would like to invite you to my constituent breakfast, which I hold every Thursday morning for Californians who are
visiting the Washington, D.C. area. More information about
this breakfast can be found here. For your information, I have provided the following information that indicates which tour sites are open in the Washington, DC area.

White House - The White House has recently announced new guidelines for our constituent tours. If your group is composed of at least 10 individuals, Senator Feinstein's office is happy to submit your request. To do so, we ask that you submit all requests at least 90 days in advance of the tour date, but not more than 6 months in advance. Security information including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and countries of origin must be submitted for all individuals aged 14 and above.

Please provide us a window of several days' availability to
maximize the opportunity for White House approval. White
House tours are operating Tuesday through Saturday
between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Capitol- Public tours of the Capitol have resumed. Tickets can be picked up every Monday-Saturday starting at 9 a.m. from the guide kiosk at the SW corner of the Capitol.

A limited number of staff-led tours are available through Senator
Feinstein's office. Please contact the office for further
information regarding availability.

In addition, there are now also a limited number of
congressional tours. Please call my office to check on
the availability of these tours.

FBI- Tours are closed until further notice due to renovations.

Bureau of Engraving & Printing- The Bureau of Engraving and Printing will be open to both public and congressionally booked tours.

Library of Congress- The Library of Congress is open to
both Congressionally booked and public tours. Smithsonian Museums- All Smithsonianmuseums are open and operating under normal hours. Should you need any further information, please do
