Fred presents awards recognizing individuals from throughout the state of
Michigan for their efforts in promoting the prevention of child abuse and
neglect. This year's Children's Trust Fund Annual Recognition Awards was
held at the Radisson Hotel in Kalamazoo. Upton handed out 14 awards on
behalf of the Children's Trust Fund.

Fred joins David Spooner, U.S. Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary, and Niall Condon, Pfizer Global Manufacturing Site Leader, to sign Pfizer's Foreign Trade Zone Designation Certificate. Upton had worked with Pfizer in urging the Department of Commerce to grant the foreign-trade zone status. By helping to keep and grow Pfizer's U.S.-based manufacturing, approval of FTZ status supports jobs both at the Kalamazoo-area facility and at the U.S. companies that supply Pfizer. It is Upton's understanding that Pfizer will now be able to trim costs and be more competitive by at least a million dollars per year at the Kalamazoo facility.

President Bush Signs Upton Decency Legislation into Law.
June 15 , 2006 - President Bush signs Fred's Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act into law during this morning's signing ceremony at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Executive Office Building. "Today's bill signing culminates a 2 ½ year journey to deliver something of real value to families across the nation," said Upton following the bill signing.
