9/29/06: Sullivan Applauds House Passage of Homeland Security Conference Report
Today, the House passed H.R. 5441, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2007. This legislation provides $34.8 billion in funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a $2.3 billion increase from fiscal year 2006, and includes $21.3 billion for border protection and interior immigration enforcement.

9/27/06: Sullivan Supports Passage of Military Commissions Legislation
Today, the House passed H.R. 6166, the Military Commissions Act of 2006. This legislation creates a new judicial system to prosecute terrorists captured in the ongoing Global War on Terror, while also protecting American troops and intelligence agents fighting terrorists.

Today, the House passed three crucial pieces of border security legislation: H.R. 6094, the Community Protection Act of 2006, H.R. 6095, the Immigration Law Enforcement Act of 2006, and H.R. 4830, the Border Tunnel Protection Act of 2006. These bills will help increase border security and crack down on illegal immigration.

9/20/06: Sullivan Applauds House Passage of the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Act
Today, the House passed S. 260, the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Act, which was introduced by Senator James Inhofe (R-OK). Last year, Congressman John Sullivan introduced companion legislation in the House, H.R. 2018, which received a favorable public hearing by the House Resources Committee. To help this important legislation become law more quickly, the House considered S. 260, which has already passed the Senate.

In response to his recent trip to America’s southern border, Congressman John Sullivan (R-OK) introduced H.R. 4079, the Secure our Nation’s Interior Act of 2005. Earlier this month, Congressman Sullivan visited the southern border in Douglas and Nogales, Arizona to examine first-hand America’s southern border crisis. Though the Congressman has long worked to combat deficiencies in interior enforcement, he was nevertheless shocked by its neglected condition and the ease with which illegal aliens can permanently settle in our nation.
