PROTECTING INTEGRITY OF ELECTION PROCESS - HOUSE APPROVES VOTER ID ACT - The U.S. House approved legislation that combats the increased incidence of voter fraud around the nation. The Federal Election Integrity Act, H.R. 4844, helps preserve the integrity of federal elections by requiring all individuals present a photo ID before voting in federal elections and eventually requires that voters must present a photo ID that certifies they are citizens of the United States. “In a democracy, it is vital that we ensure that the election process is an honest process,” noted Iowa Congressman Tom Latham, a supporter of the measure. BORDER SECURITY MEASURE ALSO HELPS IN FIGHT AGAINST METH IN IOWA - The U.S. House of Representatives approved a Republican-authored proposal this week that aims to strengthen operational control of all borders and ports through the construction of additional physical barriers and greater use of state-of-the-art technology and surveillance. In fact, in the past few weeks a local physician can attest to how technology that will be used in cooperation with the new virtual reality diagnostic imaging protocol being developed by the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center saved his life when it found a 99% blockage in a major artery in his heart.
