WASHINGTON – Congressman Jerry Lewis and Congresswoman Mary Bono expressed grief and anger over the loss of four U.S. Forest Service firefighters who were killed while fighting a Riverside County wildfire that apparently was started by an arsonist. CONGRESS APPROVES $65.6 MILLION IN UPGRADES FOR 29 PALMS MARINE CORPS TRAINING CENTER
WASHINGTON – The House and Senate have approved $65 million in projects requested by Congressman Jerry Lewis for the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms as part of the final $447 billion Fiscal Year 2007 spending bill for the Department of Defense, Lewis said Friday. The funding will help speed development of an expanded urban warfare center at the Mojave Desert base, Lewis said.

$21.3 BILLION FOR BORDER PROTECTION IN HOMELAND SECURITY SPENDING BILL APPROVED BY CONGRESS
WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives and the Senate gave final approval Friday to a Department of Homeland Security spending bill that includes $21.3 billion for border protection and immigration enforcement for the coming year, including $1.2 billion for border fencing and other barriers to illegal entry, Congressman Jerry Lewis announced. WASHINGTON - Congressman Jerry Lewis hailed the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recent announcement that more than 80 percent of eligible California Medicare beneficiaries, 3.3 million, are now receiving prescription drug coverage.
