Rep. Holden Presents Grant to Big Brothers Big Sisters Program in Harrisburg.
Congressman Holden presents a check to BBBSCR representatives, Tammy Johnson, Valerie Simmons, Susan Hair, and Larry Gardner (pictured left to right).
Congressman Holden presented a check he helped secure for $216,000 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region program. This funding will help train adult volunteers to serve as mentors to children and youth with incarcerated parents. In conjunction with The Program for Female Offenders, the goal of this mentorship is to foster positive development in youth who are living with a variety of risk factors due to the incarceration of one or both parents.
Funding for Harrisburg Airport Authorized in House and Appropriated in Senate.
Senator Arlen Specter and Representative Tim Holden present Harrisburg International Airport with a check designed for improvement of air service and high airfares.
In a joint effort, Senator Arlen Specter and Congressman Tim Holden secured $400,000 for the Harrisburg International Airport, enabling the community to seek low-cost air service. The grant was awarded through the Department of Transportation under the Small Community Air Service Development Program, and is designed to help smaller communities enhance their air service and address issues related to high airfares.
