Top Story: Conaway Receives "Friend of Farm Bureau" Award

November 2 , 2006

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, Congressman Conaway was presented the American Farm Bureau Federation’s “Friend of Farm Bureau” award in Coleman, Texas. This congressional award is given to Representatives who have been strong supporters of Farm Bureau issues.

“On behalf of the Texas Farm Bureau, I would like to thank Congressman Conaway for all of his hard work for the agriculture community,” said Texas Farm Bureau State Director Lewis Lehman. “We greatly appreciate the leadership role that he has played in the House committee on Agriculture, and his accessibility and receptiveness as we share our concerns. He has proved his commitment to America’s farmers and ranchers.”

Issue of the Day : The Fair Tax
To ensure prosperity for future generations, we must reform some of our institutions - retirement plans, the tax code, our health care system, and worker training programs - that were created for the world of yesterday. We must transform these systems so all Americans will be equipped to confront the great challenges that will determine the quality of life for our children and grandchildren. In Congress, I am working to cut through some of the bureaucracy and get government out of the way of small business.
