Rep. Baird Assists with Flood Control Efforts-Congressman to Spend Day Touring Flooded Areas, Meeting with Residents and Local Officials-

Centralia, WA - Congressman Brian Baird traveled to Lewis County early this morning to assess flood damage and meet with evacuated residents.  Congressman Baird will spend the rest of the day touring flood conditions throughout Southwest Washington and working with local, state, and federal officials to ensure residents are getting the resources and help that they need.  ...more

National Meth Awareness Day Set for Nov. 30-Cantwell-Baird Meth Awareness Legislation Made Official-

Washington, D.C. - Senator Maria Cantwell and Congressman Brian Baird today announced the Administration has heeded their call for greater awareness of the meth epidemic and declared November 30 to be National Meth Awareness Day.  Cantwell and Baird succeeded in passing legislation (S. Res. 313 and H. Res. 556) earlier this year that called for the designation of an entire week to increase awareness of the meth epidemic and educate the public about the dangers of meth use.  The Department of Justice ceded a single Meth Awareness Day - November 30 - which DOJ will officially announce on Wednesday.   ...more

Illegal Immigration
- It’s been a while since I’ve had time to write.  August was filled with traveling the third district and meeting with many of you.  I also had the opportunity to lead a congressional delegation to Asia, where I met with the leaders of some impressive emerging democracies.  I’m back in the other Washington now – Washington, D.C. – working to extend the state sales tax deduction and drafting legislation to help our small businesses.  ...(more)
