Protect America First Act of 2006
Congressman Barrow believes we should never let foreign countries buy up America’s ability to defend ourselves or protect our borders. Unfortunately, as the Dubai Ports deal and the Doncasters Effingham deal have shown, the outsourcing of America’s military defense and homeland security has gone on unchecked for too long.  That’s why Barrow introduced the Protect America First Act, legislation that will ensure Congress is notified about these types of transactions long before any deal is signed.

The Protect America First Act is backed by the Ranking Members of both the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Committee on Armed Services.  It is also supported by fellow Georgia Congressmen Jim Marshall and David Scott.

At only $5.15 an hour, the current minimum wage is shortchanging too many of America’s working families.  That’s why Congressman John Barrow is leading efforts in the House of Representatives to force a vote on H.R. 2429, the Fair Minimum Wage Act, which would gradually raise the minimum wage over the next two years from its current level of $5.15 an hour to $7.25 an hour.
